Anise knew that her friends weren't going to leave her, but even with that knowledge, it was hard to stay calm as the cage dropped against the surface. When water began to filter in through the bars and over the floor, she panicked.

Desperate, she started kicking at the bars, throwing all of her weight into it. When that didn't work, she slammed her elbow into the bars, then pried at them with her hands, then tried kicking again. Anise wasn't going to let herself die here. It wasn't going to be long until the cage filled with water and she wouldn't be able to move freely, but until then, she was going to put up as much of a fight as she possibly could.

"Damn it, it won't budge!" she cried in frustration as she continued to struggle.
