lovecraftcomplex: Rose Lalonde, descending a staircase in the normal way. (Be immune to stairs.)

Twelve. A common number, echoing through time with the passing of months and cases of wine-bottles, but not an unfitting one.

Wait a minute. Hadn't there also been twelve trolls? Perhaps the two societies had more in common than she'd been led to believe. Perhaps not.

What was this about a glow? It took Rose a moment to realize he was speaking figuratively. Oh. As no other luminescence was present, he must mean the flashlight.

"I thought it lent a festive air to the proceedings."

She switched off the light, throwing caution to the winds. The dark was a jarring change, when she should be looking out across her realm of Light right now,

"Is that better?" It was intended as a rhetorical question, but like so many of her words, twisted as she spoke them. This one towards a higher truth. And so, with its travails, darkness brought information. The door at the top of the stairs was faintly limned, pale moonlight seeping between the cracks. It was still not enough to see by, but Rose had planned for that. She knew how many steps were left, and counted them as she climbed.

Finding the handle on the door was a little more difficult, but she didn't think her fellow player had noticed. She wasn't entirely sure he noticed much at all, really.
