With the simple way that Sangamon brushed off his thanks, Harvey had to assume that the man would be willing to use the ring again. That meant that they could take the same shortcut and make it to a different room (hopefully one without a huge maze in it) to get the second piece of the puzzle. And then they'd be rewarded by going to a coliseum. It wasn't the best deal he'd ever made, but it would give them knowledge, the only source of power in this place.
A soldier noticed that he'd been slacking for even just a few seconds and looked him straight in the eye, clearly not bothered by how ridiculous he must have looked with the bandages and the beret. He sighed and kept mopping.
About the basement, though, Sangamon had a good point. "People are pretty hush-hush. Even when I was trying to figure out how to get through the doors down there, I didn't get any straight answers." Part of it was the fault of the bulletin being watched, but he also had to wonder if some patients were just hesitant to give out that information. It seemed counter-intuitive to not help each other, but he couldn't really blame people for being secretive.
"You can try finding out, but I haven't had much luck," he said with a shake of his head. They were just going to have to go into the rest of it blind. Jones had apparently heard about the sphinx, though; maybe those friends of his had more to tell.
