Being forced to clean was annoying enough on its own, and his arm did little to improve the fact. Small bits of food had dried out and clung to the floor, requiring enough pressure to get off to send pain shooting through his wound as he tried to scrub, leaving him to grit his teeth in frustration. ... He may have been no stranger to pain, but that didn't make it any more pleasant. It started to occur to him that he had no reason to care about the state of the floor, so he began to favor his other arm, but despite the intention of being lazy about it, he still found himself scrubbing pretty hard, using the force behind the motion to alleviate some tension.

He turned slightly when he was addressed, finding a young boy with white hair and strange violet eyes, but the question that followed caused him to pause entirely. How did he know that...? ... This definitely wasn't a person he recognized. Why would someone he'd never met be asking something like that? It was a little unsettling, even if the subject matter was innocuous enough on the surface.

"Well, I wonder...." he responded vaguely, turning away to hide the bitter smile that surfaced. How was she doing....? Sad and lonely and waiting for her idiot older brother to hurry up and come back to her. And here he was, in a place like this, washing floors instead of trying to find his way home. It wasn't his fault he'd ended up here, and there wasn't much he could do with so little to go on, but... Wasn't he wasting time here....?

He turned back after a moment, trying to ignore the sudden stab of guilt. "What about it?" He had wonder at the very least how this boy even knew about her. Lucky guess? ... That sort of thing seemed a little too coincidental to be true.
