Night 71: F-A Block Hallway

[from here]

No, not cling. Clinging was for grab bars on emergency takeoffs. Seize it with both hands and yank. Like grabbing and crushing the bones of someone who held out a patronizing handshake. She'd never done that, but Two did, once. Only once, because they couldn't get away with repeating it. She had a feeling the same held here; they would need to find that one gap in the forcefield, and then strike with everything they had.

The women's block was empty; not even a whisper. That concerned her; they couldn't build up an army if there was no one here. Maybe she was just moving quickly; she told herself that as she slipped through the darkness.

Ciel sighed with a whine. Where am I?

Earlier when she noticed the other rooms in the hallway, her attention swapped over to her new findings. Unfortunately, all the other rooms she could get into seemed identical enough at first glance. If her things weren't in the room she came from, there was little chance they'd be in these other rooms either. That notion didn't change when she saw there were three other rows of rooms to look into.

That audible annoyance was only matched by her unsound interest, as far as curiosity went. The architecture of the place occupied her mind under her conscious effort to try and search for her bearings and possessions in the area, only coming up in consideration once she realized she wouldn't find them in this part of the building. And some building it was! Fascinatingly... archaic, she couldn't remember the last time she had to manually open and close objects and doors as much she had to within the last few minutes. And the materials! She recognized wood and other things that would have been in wide use many centuries ago. If she weren't in such a hurry to find her things and get out, she would have liked to take in first-hand something that she only really read about in recorded data of the past.
