Night 67: M61-M70 Hallway

Ryusei had just about dozed off when the intercom went off, and the haphazard way he'd flung himself onto the bed came back to bite him when he fell off of it, and as he flung his arm out for balance, he grabbed the pillow and only succeeded in bringing the pillow to the floor with him. That'll teach him, he thought as he got up. More importantly, what was this flashlight doing here? Nightlight? He could have bludgeoned her with it. Not...that he would.

Probably just one of those things she'd never bothered to explain. He put the pillow back and lay down again.

No, it was beginning to bother him again. Whoever did the announcements here was a total weirdo. And he didn't seem to be getting anymore sleep anytime soon, so he got up and poked around all the drawers on his side of the room again. Eventually he made his way to the door, and found it unlocked.

... This was surprisingly coincidental with his flashlight discovery just a few minutes ago. And with what the weirdo had said. Still, he had to weigh the risks. He'd get in trouble if someone caught him out there. On the other hand, he wouldn't get caught if he was careful enough. He picked up the flashlight and slipped out into the hall.

He should stick to what he knew first, so Ryusei started along the route he'd walked the past two mornings.

With the coming night and the absence of watching eyes, Kurogane was finally able to properly assess the damage done by the doctor. His eyesight remained skewed from the right-side blur, however was decent enough for the dark hallways. The left arm meanwhile was sore, yet useable. Without a weapon it didn't matter which arm he had at the ready, just so long as one was functioning. As for the rest of him, he'd gotten more than used to the forced illness and knew he could survive an outing.

Kurogane had prepared quickly after deciding to head out and had gone with the head doctor's usual announcement, noting the mention of "getting lost". While Kurogane had never attempted to figure out exactly what the man's words meant, he'd also never ignored them.

It's not that far, he reminded as he swung the corner and headed for the side hallways. If he got lost in such a short distance, then he had no chance of managing anything this night.
