Night 66: Medical Wing Hall
[from here]
Maybe a dose of aggravation was just what he needed to get moving. It was hard to be afraid or paranoid when you were annoyed. Which may not be a very good thing, but he couldn't say he cared at the moment. He was starting to get impatient. Yes, maybe it was unrealistic to assume he would find something useful or incriminating in 20 minutes, but it didn't stop him from feeling like this was a waste. There was only a limited amount of time in which people could explore freely. If there was nothing in this place, he would rather be using that time to explore elsewhere. At the very least, he had to come across some medicine eventually, right? It was a medical wing. So it should stand to reason that it should have medical things. Then again, what did he know about the organization of hospitals? Maybe it was counter-intuitive for some inane reason.
Anyway. It looked like the hallway went into multiple directions at this point. And neither hall was completely straight, so he was doomed to walk around a corner where something might be lurking out of sight either way. Perfect. Alright. Let's just go.
He chose a direction at random and was rewarded with the sight of bathrooms along one wall. Though he was tentative going around the corner, there was in fact nothing waiting to pounce on him. Nor was there any staff or security walking around. You know, it might have made a little more sense for the rest of the institute, but it really was strange that there wouldn't be staff on night patrol at least here or upstairs. He'd never seen anyone. Where did all of them go exactly?

...He only just now realized how incredibly bizarre it was that none of these offices seemed to be locked so far. That would actually be very understandable. Why then were they all completely accessible? Was it because the medical wing itself had been locked, so the staff felt as though everything inside was secure? ...No, wait. They expected people to be coming into this wing. So then did that mean that they didn't care about people getting into any of these rooms? That probably meant it was useless to search anything that was left open.
In other words, he was indeed wasting his time and it probably wasn't worth searching any more of these rooms. He should probably move on elsewhere. Unfortunately, he had spent so much time in this one area that it suddenly felt really dangerous to risk moving elsewhere. It was really easy to want to simply keep to comfort zones, but he wasn't going to get anything done if he kept doing that. Thankfully, it felt like he couldn't bring himself to be as on-edge paranoid as he had been coming in. Not that he would be careless but there was no sense letting his imagination paralyze him.
He moved carefully down the hallway, making sure to take any twists in the hallway widely so he might have time to react should something happen. But frankly, by this point, he was paying more attention to the rooms he was passing than the hallway. Though it seemed like it was going to become more of a labyrinth up ahead. He needed to be careful to maintain his sense of direction so he didn't get turned around at the worst possible time.
But before he started hitting any intersections in the hall, there was one door that immediately piqued his interest. The Medical Library. Unless they had gone out of their way to clear the room entirely of books, there was no possible way he couldn't find something useful in here. This is where he should have started in the first place. If only he had turned right instead of going straight ahead. Oh well.
