Night 66: Main Hallway, 1-Center
[from here, skipping a few halls]
Here it was. Skulduggery wasn't around yet, but Rita expected he would show up soon. He'd been punctual up until now.
If what she'd been hearing was right, she was going to need to look out for both monsters and patients tonight. Seemed simple enough. Rita stood with her back against the wall opposite to the Sun Room doors, and waited.

Both the rhythm and his steps slowed as he got closer to the Sun Room. There were a few people lingering around here, understandably. Though it felt like the rest of the institute was quieter so long as one was careful, the Sun Room had proven itself to be consistently dangerous. He wondered why that was. All the rooms through here were ones they all had access to normally during the day and had proven themselves useless for the most part. The only exceptions were outside and the secret underground area, both of which were even more dangerous. So there was really very little incentive to go through here unless it was for a very specific reason.
And Klavier had no such reason to risk his safety. Hopefully these people in the hall would come to a similar conclusion and move elsewhere. The building was huge and there were probably places no one had searched through yet. Why leap into a situation you knew would be dangerous unless there was a definitive gain?
Nigredo suddenly came to mind. The other one, too, but that wasn't really the point. Those two had headed downstairs several times in search of... what? A way out? Information? Something different from the usual that the institute offered? Had anything been gained at all from those times? ...He really hoped they weren't still making nightly trips down to that nightmare.
Unfortunately, there was no real way to tell or check. All he could really do was hope common sense had gripped them... or at least Nigredo. That small hope did very little to put his concerns to rest though.
