Night 65: X-Ray Operational Room

((From here.))

The control panels were right where he'd found him the other night. Even better, the room appeared devoid of both patients and monsters. While Claude wondered if it was just the calm before a nasty storm, he figured it wouldn't be a good idea to look a gift horse in the mouth. They needed to use this opportunity to learn more about whatever they could.

"Okay," he said as he rested his sword against the wall for the time being. Allowing his hard hat to illuminate the area, he refrained from looking directly at Guy. "Do you at least kind of remember what we did last night?" That was probably the best starting point.

If only the circumstances hadn't been so dire, Guy would have been excited to learn about using a machine like this. But as it was, he could only take the task seriously and do his best to soak in the information so that he could scan Claude successfully.

While he had watched Claude use the panel the night before, the fact was that there hadn't been much time for explanation, not when the night could have ended at any second and they'd been scanning a badly injured patient. Still, it hadn't seemed overly complicated and he was sure that he could pick it up easily enough.

"I know that it mainly involves button pressing," he said after a pause as he set down his supplies, leaving only his flashlight in his hand so that he could see all of the buttons. "I'm just not sure which ones, and in which order."

As Claude explained, Guy made sure to follow along closely, and in the end he couldn't say it was all that complicated. He just had to make sure to push the right buttons in the right order at the right times, and everything should work out just fine. Not that he wasn't going to take his job seriously, since he knew that this was Claude's life in his hands.

"Yeah, I've got it," he said after a pause, running through the process in his head once more time just to be sure. "I'll make sure not to zap you or anything." He didn't even know if that was possible, but right now it was a good idea to lighten the mood a little.

"Are you ready, then?" Guy asked. "Just... go and lay down on the table, I guess, and lift your arm up when you're ready for me to start." The glass window that connected the two rooms was definitely convenient when it came to that, although Guy realized that was probably exactly what it was meant for.
