Fortunately, they reached the stairwell without any problems. Even though Scar had the thus far nameless boy accompanying him as his meat shield, the idea of any possible delays didn't particularly thrill him. Especially not when they might have been pressed for time.
Scar paused briefly at the bottom of the stairs, glancing up and peering into the darkness while listening for any sounds. After a moment, he deemed it to be safe enough. Before ascending the stairs, he cast a brief glance over his shoulder to confirm whether his companion was still following.

"I'm Link." He gave Scar a small smile, climbing the stares quickly, on light feet. He was wary, though. Link had never come across any true monsters himself, but he heeded Sora's warnings seriously. His knife was out and ready.
