Day 63: The Bookworm (Morning)

Castiel was relieved to get off the bus, seeing how the way it had pitched his body around hadn't done much good for his head. As he exited he made an awkward farewell to Lingormr before turning his sights on the town. It looked different when it wasn't shrouded with a heavy coat of snow, but besides that it was exactly as he remembered it. There was no surprise there, of course, as it had only been a week.

While he felt more protected now that he had gloves covering his hands (or more specifically, the one that was splotched with red), Castiel's headache didn't seem to be leaving him. It was a persistent throb and was more distracting than it should have been. No wonder humans had a problem with focusing.

There was still no sign of Dean or Sam on the streets, and so Castiel's first stop was to the grocer to leave a message asking after them. He saw that people were already discussing the illness and its repercussions, but didn't have any urge to join that conversation. It was best to not draw attention to himself when he already had a rash painting a target on him.

Once the message was left, Castiel circled back to the book store that was close to the drop-off spot. Lingormr's words had left an impression on him, and he realized that it might be in his best interest to learn more about the human body and how it performed when riddled with illness. While he realized that what he was suffering from was far different from any normal human infection, it might still give him some clue.

That was how he found himself wandering over the creaky floorboards of the store, scanning the shelves for anything of use. Thus far he wasn't having much success.
