Night 62: Entry Room

[From here.]

The room felt abandoned when Harvey first entered, but that was the way it had felt the last time he'd been here too. In other words, he wasn't going to let his guard down so easily. He scanned his flashlight over the front desk and at the doors lining the walls, figuring that one of them had to lead into the file room that Sangamon was looking for.

So far the coast was clear, so the faster they got to where they were going the better. He tilted his head at Sangamon as he stepped in after him, gesturing to the doors. "Know which one to check?" He knew the ones on the sides would just lead into those rooms where they saw the visitors, which he didn't want to think too hard on. His short talk with Bruce was a memory that he tried to shove to the back of his mind as much as he could.

"Not a clue."

S.T. mimed flipping a coin -- flick of the thumb, tracked a parabolic arc with his eyes, catch and reveal. Then he shrugged and pointed to the room on the left. "Works for Disney World and unsettling corporate drones." That probably required explanation. Practically invited it. One engraved invitation for S.T. to hear himself talk.

"People are, like, 90% right-handed." Ten percent was what researchers used for "enough of the population to make an impact, no fucking clue how many", but for this it was true. Left-handedness was no longer an acceptable excuse for parents to be dicks to their kids. "So they like turning right. If there's two lines, and you can't see which one's longer, go left. Most people won't." The corporate boardroom thing was the same -- the glossy conference rooms for sucking up to shareholders would be down to the right, and the actual workers would go left. If you wanted to talk to someone who knew the ins and outs of the system, you went left. If you wanted to piss off someone with more ego than brains, you went right. It was all strategy.

The door was locked, but not deadbolted, which meant one kick knocked it open and looked a lot more badass than it actually was.
