NS 61: Main Hallway 1-Center

"I know you didn't believe at least half of what I told you at breakfast."

And she supposed that was being a bit generous. But why should he have believed her? She really couldn't blame him. This place was full of half-truths and illusions as it was.

"But I hope you at least verified what I told you. I have no reason to lie to you, Scar. What purpose would lying to you about this place possibly serve me?"

If nothing else, she figured an appeal to logic might have more impact on him. She really didn't have any reason to lie to him. Not about the Institute. And for goodness sake, it wasn't as though she could carry on a lie. All he needed do was ask someone else!

As it turned out, Aigis had been heading the same direction as him. The girl was already up ahead and speaking with another patient. Castiel could only hope that he hadn't delayed her too greatly with that errand.

It wasn't something to dwell on, though. The hallway that had held that doctor's office was only a short distance ahead. While Castiel realized that the door into Venkman's office might be locked as tight as the front door, he would need to investigate that himself.

If nothing else, he could attempt to break the door down with brute strength. It hadn't worked the last time, but it was worth one more try.

As he followed Castiel further down the hallway, Izaya began to wonder where the angel was headed. Was it to the medical ward on the far end? Perhaps he was heading upstairs? Or did he have business elsewhere downstairs? He obviously wasn't heading into either the sun room or the entrance where they'd practiced picking locks; those doors had been passed without so much as a glance.

As he passed those doors himself, Izaya realized that there wasn't as much distance between them as he would have liked for the business of tailing. He'd hung back as far as he could in order to not be spotted right away, but too much distance meant he risked losing Castiel in the dark—and then he'd never learn the answer of where he was headed. But given that same lack of distance...

"Ah... Castiel? Is that you?" he called out, quickening his pace to close the gap futher. He would have rather observed to find his answer, but asking outright was always an option. "Just where are you headed?"

As Castiel kept moving down the hall, he'd been interrupted by the sound of his radio turning on. It came with the usual burst of static, which was loud enough to hurt his now human ears. It made no sense, as he knew it was his angelic energy that made the device react that way, and yet his body was no longer equipped to handle the sound itself.

He shook his head, pausing for a moment to focus on the words coming through the speaker. The mention of Claude and Lydia gave him pause. So they had made it out safely after all. Castiel still didn't understand why they couldn't have given them some idea of how to escape, although a clue was soon offered.

The basement. Castiel hadn't put much thought to it, as he had decided that moving outward would better serve him, but if such a path was being endorsed by those two rebels, then...

While still distracted, Castiel got on the move again, although he'd only made it a few more paces down the hall when he heard someone calling out his name. And not just anyone -- no, he recognized Orihara's tone almost immediately. While he was tempted to act as if he hadn't heard the man (human ears were faulty, as he'd just learned), before he knew it Orihara was at his side.

He glanced over the man for a moment, wondering if there would be any threat in telling him the truth. Of course, it wasn't as if he could hide his motives that well either, seeing how Orihara could simply follow him if he was that curious. "I had a therapy session earlier today. I'm returning to that doctor's office to search it."

Ah—the doctor's office, was it? He'd entertained a similar thought as a possibility for the night before spotting Castiel... True, it had been only one of several options, but to now learn that the office (or perhaps even offices, in the end) was Castiel's destination made it an altogether more tempting prospect.

"Hmm, what a coincidence," he remarked, the bow of his head and his quiet tone hinting that the comment was just as much to himself as to Castiel. Then he smiled at the angel and added, "I was just headed that way myself."

He matched his pace to Castiel's, inviting himself along for the trip; whether or not he was actually wanted didn't matter at all beyond matters of simple curiosity. And speaking of curiosity... "Was it your first time seeing one of the doctors?"

A coincidence, Orihara said. Castiel wondered if it was more than that. It was possible that the man was simply saying that he'd been thinking of going that way so that he had a reason to follow him. While he didn't completely understand why Orihara had such an interest in him all of a sudden, he realized that most humans would be intrigued by interacting with an actual angel. Dean's reaction had been out of the ordinary, after all. It was likely that most people would be reacting the way that Orihara was now; the way Sam had when they'd first met.

Not that Castiel had anything to show for himself. He couldn't make any flashy displays or show off his powers in any way. The only reason he was probably even believed was because he hadn't been himself when he'd admitted to all of that.

The one upside was that if the doctor's office was locked, he might have an easier time getting inside with Orihara's help. "Come on, then," he said. If the man wanted to come with, then he would have to keep up.
